Every two years, the JEMP meeting, which was first organized in 1993 in Toulouse (France) is the ideal meeting place for the scientific and industrial communities with an interest in developing an understanding of the complex behavior of porous media.
The 16th edition of JEMP has been held at IFP Energies nouvelles, Rueil-Malmaison (near Paris) from 17 to 19 October 2023.
Thanks to all participants, speakers, posters authors, chairpersons and sponsors (TotalEnergies OneTech, Serlabo Technologies, Tescan, Storeng and CEA). You made this 16th edition another success!
The discussions, mostly interdisciplinary, involve fundamental topics such as applied mathematics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and process engineering. The scientific research carried out in these domains is relevant in several major areas related to environmental and societal needs like energy storage, pollution abatement, renewable energies, agri-food and health.
The following topics have been covered: - Numerical modeling of flows in porous media - Multiphase - multi-components systems - Mechanics of porous media: deformation, failure, damage - Behavior of complex fluids in porous media - Characterization, imaging, digital porous generation - Organic porous media - Multiscale fibrous media, nano and micro porous media - Mechanical, chemical and thermal coupling between fluids and matrix in porous media
For this edition, special emphasis was placed on the energy transition.
The communication materials (abstract, slides and/or poster) were written in English. French or English were accepted for oral communications. Great importace was given to the 2 poster sessions for which two prizes for the best posters have been awarded jointly by the organizing committee and by the French Interpore Chapter (FIC), which is the French section of the International Society for Porous MediaINTERPORE.
Later, authors are encouraged to publish their full papers in the STET review.
